Today I am diligently working on my Dear Jane quilt that I started very many moons ago. One of my friends started her Dear Jane journey about 2 years ago and she is already passing me with her completed blocks. Now, I would not have said that I am a very competitive person. But Emma has asked me to teach her how to hand quilt-as-you-go our DJ blocks and I just cannot let her beat me with the blocks AND the hand quilting! All other unfinished items have been carefully tossed into their respective (there is more than one that I was working on at the same time!) boxes and now I am surrounded by little tiny pieces of foundation paper patterns, peculiar shaped bits of fabric (that I am certain I can get a bit out of for something...) and my favourite music playing.
One thing that I need to now from you, dear Reader, is this... does your un-picker get a workout if you let your mind wander from what you are sewing? Today I have been thinking about counting up the stock in my shop. Unpicked the same piece 4 times. Stopped thinking about that. Started thinking about what colour will I do the next block in; un-picked the same row 3 times. Stopped thinking about that. Talked to one of my grand-daughters for a few minutes. Had to throw that piece away. Gah! How am I to keep my mind on the task at hand when I have all of these other distractions going on? I know... I will write on my blog page!
Last week we got the latest French General range of fabrics in the shop. OMG; it truly is lovely. Kind of romantic and pretty but not too prissy - easier to just say it is beautiful really. A new fat quarter bundle has been ordered with my name on it.
